During November 16-21 I left for my school's Hong Kong Aesthetics/art trip.
I had quite a lot of fun (and shopping) there, although maybe some things didn't really go as planned. :D
There weren't enough people from our side going so some people from RI and Yusof Ishak Secondary joined us too.
Many many Sec 3 SAP people went :DD
We (RG) were to make this visual journal as part of our "homework" and as evidence so we could be eligible for a subsidy that will deduct quite a lot from the tour fee. The top 3 most "artful" journals would be given prizes by our teachers. Originally I thought I wouldn't get it so I didn't really put in effort in making it "artful", just wrote and drew stuff down to try and fill my journal up. Surprisingly mine was in the top 3. I was really shocked. (not suanning or anything)
Grace and I shared a room. The hotel room was...small. We were told it was the HK equivalent of Hotel 81 in SG. HEHEHE. Yeah. The hotel room was so small, my room is bigger than it. The room was like a giant rectangle. Half of which is taken up by two beds. When you step in, you step into the sink, shower and toilet area. The partitions separating the toilet and shower from the rest of the room were semi-translucent. You can see patches of colour behind it. Haha. What's worse, the TV is mounted on the partition, so when you watch TV you can actually see the person behind showering. Er in our case, the other party would face away and not watch the TV when one is showering. Yup.
Despite the size though, it's really cosy.
The shopping there was awesome. Haheee. Lots of subculture clothing going for really cheap there (compared to Singapore). I finally got the knee-high lace-up black boots I've always wanted there!! For about half the price of those sold in Singapore! ♥♥
I also bought some punku stuff cause there was a GLP store there. My favourite's this black tiered frilly skirt with the occasional leathery skull cut-outs dangling from each edge of the tier. It's so fricking cute! It caught my eye the moment I saw it at the store ^_^
Nancy had this GREAT screaming chicken that she bought there. I really love it!! It's long and stiff and has a face a bit like the one in The Scream and when you press it's belly it gives this really loud WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. She came over to our room and we prank called a couple of people :,D Inconsiderate, but hilarious. Omg I laughed so much that night.
Most of the trip was spent on arts-related things of course. We had one day of visiting artist galleries, where they put up works for sale. We also visited an arts school, and most of us after that visit were like OMG I WANT TO STUDY THERE. Seriously. Even though they have uniforms, their uniforms are cool. Why? There are varieties of colours for the same uniform piece, and there are many uniform pieces to choose from. Students get to mix and match and edit a little to suit their own style! WTF! That's so fun right??
We also had this workshop in which we had to put up our own performance art in the streets of HK. My god. I was so scared.
I shan't describe what we did but it was really scary for me o_o even though my group didn't do it for very long compared to the others cause ours was a one-time-only thing.
One day was spent in Disneyland too! The last time I went was when I was 6, in Japan. It's really like a dreamland in there, just that everything's so expensive, it's like a...commercial dreamland. But really everything feels so wonderful and unreal. Haaa~
The Disney land in HK is rather small, so I finished most of the rides in there. Even the scariest one, which wasn't scary at all. I took it 3 times, which really isn't a lot compared to some who took it like..11 times? But while they were taking it 8 more times, they missed out on a show they shouldn't have missed out on. The Lion King show was spectacular! The costumes were so so pretty and the stage was made of win. It can rotate and move up and down! The sitting was a bit like a stadium. There were real fire effects too. Win.
Of course the fireworks show can't be forgotten.. or the float parade around noon... sigh I loved everything so much.
In all I really experienced and learnt a lot- not just about the arts scene in HK alone, but about the lifestyle, architecture, and all that. I really had a lot of fun being overseas with friends and getting to know a different "world"! :,D
Aaaah I want to go again~
I totally haven't written about everything that happened there, but this is probably the gist of what went on in HK (:
That was a totally wonderful week.
...I just regret leaving my black cardigan (the one I always wear to school) on the plane during the trip home DX
